How To Find An Acarsaid Cottage

By Road

There are two ways to get to Milovaig. One a little shorter avoiding Portree (1) or through Portree and Dunvegan (2).

From Fort William, enter Lochalsh at Cluanie and drive through awesome Glenshiel. Or take the alternative northern route from Inverness and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of Lochcarron and the surrounding countryside.

Regardless of your starting location, you will approach Kyle of Lochalsh on the A87.
At Kyleakin Roundabout, take the 3rd exit and stay on A87.

(1) At Sligachan turn left onto the A863, which goes to Dunvegan. At Lonmore turn left onto the B884 (single track road) which skirts the shores of Loch Dunvegan for 8.5 miles to Glendale.

Follow the B884 straight through Glendale (direction Waterstein/Neist Point). Pass the Glen Stores on your right and then the Borrodale Primary School. After the Ramasaig junction (follow direction Waterstein/Milovaig) you’ll pass a sign for “13 Upper Milovaig” on your right.
An Acarsaid is the next house on your right, just before the “Waterstein 1 mile/Neist Point lighthouse 3 miles” junction & the Carter’s Rest B&B. Please note that there is a gate at the entrance of the cottage.

(2) Directions from Portree
Stay on the A87. Take the road A850 to Dunvegan.
